Yesterday EBSCO Information Services announced the launch of a new service to libraries called Panorama, “a modern library analytics platform combining different library and campus data sets to enable insights from a streamlined platform. Susanna Reichling, library liaison to the MSU Music and Theatre & Dance Departments, recently attended the 90th Annual Music Library Association National Conference. For the first time (due to the pandemic), the event was held online and in conjunction with the Theatre Library Association National Conference, which allowed for multiple opportunities to share strategies and innovations across performing arts disciplines. The most recent book publication from the Ozarks Studies Institute, an initiative of the Missouri State University Libraries, is now being printed and will be available for sale soon, both online and in-person in the Library Administrative Offices in Duane G. Meyer Library.  The book, “We Gave Them Thunder,”  is about Marmaduke’s raid and the Civil War in Missouri and Arkansas. William Garrett Piston, one of the authors, taught history for 29 years at MSU before retiring in 2017. John…

Duane G. Meyer is a beautiful, functional building with a great location near the fountain on the main Springfield campus of Missouri State University. It has a rich array of large windows, some of which are recessed by overhangs, meaning that over time they can become dirty.  The MSU Libraries is working with a local window washing firm — Clearview — to have all the exterior-facing windows washed soon, both inside and out. 

Starting in 2017, the MSU Libraries collaborated with The Fairbanks, a focal point of The Northwest Project, to build a community-centered, neighborhood library for residents of the Grant Beach Neighborhood and the surrounding area. Library team members assisted with on-site renovation work, including cleaning and painting, as well as collecting and preparing books for the opening of the library. Special Collections and Archives, part of the Missouri State University Libraries, is excited to share a new exhibit on the third floor of Plaster Student Union! This exhibit was created and installed by Haley Frizzle-Green, a practicum student from the University of Missouri who will be graduating with a Master of Library and Information Science degree in May. The exhibit focuses on campus in the 1970s and highlights the name change to Southwest Missouri State University in 1972. Other images…

The main libraries on the Springfield campuses of Drury University and Missouri State University recently signed a document articulating a reciprocal borrowing agreement. Current students, faculty, and staff members in good standing at Drury and MSU now may check out books from Drury’s F. W. Olin Library and MSU’s Duane G.
