Over 100 MSU faculty and staff attended the What’s Brewing @ Your Library event held on the First Level of Duane G. Meyer Library last Friday evening, as the fall semester concluded. Current and former colleagues, family and friends gathered in the Infant Through Grade 12 (IG12) area on the Second Level of Duane G. Meyer Library on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2019 to honor and congratulate Cherri Jones and Marklyn Cotter, who are retiring.  Both Cherri and Marklyn plan to travel quite a bit in the near future. Yesterday, December 11th — Brenda Lee’s birthday — the Missouri State University Libraries made available online two digital recordings that should be of interest to fans of “Little Miss Dynamite.” A demo audio tape of Ms. Lee, circa 1955, that was sent to Bryan Bisney of the Ozark Jubilee, after Red Foley, the host of the Ozark Jubilee, heard Brenda, who was eleven years old at the time, sing at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Georgia, on February 23, 1956,…

During the first week of December — the final week of classes for the fall semester — over 26,000 people entered Duane G. Meyer Library on the Springfield campus of Missouri State University. If such high foot traffic were experienced 50 weeks throughout the year, we would have well over 1.3 million annual visitors. In reality, we have approx. 750,000 visitors per year.  Tuesday, December 3rd was the busiest day of last week, when over 4,750 people entered the building. …

Next Tuesday, December 10th, from 2:00 to 4:00, we’re going to the dogs. Pups from Pet Therapy of the Ozarks will be paying a visit to Duane G. Meyer Library to help students de-stress during Finals Week. The doggies will be in the Library Living Room on the First (Main) Level (just past the top of the ramp and across from the Information Desk). Be sure to stop by for some snuggles and relax with these furry friends!
