In July Tyler Drenon began working for the Missouri State University Libraries as a non-student, part-time employee.  Tyler will be assisting with the relocation, relaunch, and re-envisioning of our ASPIRE program. ASPIRE supports interdisciplinary scholarship within a technologically enhanced library space. It provides opportunities for students and faculty from multiple disciplines to apply classroom learning to real-life issues and actual requirements on the job.   The Sigma Tau Gamma Scrapbook (M 114) was recently donated by members of the fraternity to Missouri State University’s Special Collections and Archives. Special Collections has digitized the scrapbook in its entirety and made it available online. Examples of items in the scrapbook include photos, newspaper clippings, and ephemera (such as invitations and matchbooks), all dating from 1939 to the 1950’s (plus one item from 1984). This week Dr. Frank Einhellig, Provost of Missouri State University, generously transferred some end-of-fiscal-year one-time funds to help the MSU Libraries advance two initiatives:  Ozarks Room: When the current project to renovate Room 003 on the Lower Level is complete, the ASPIRE service will move down there. Renovation of Library 101, the large Auditorium off of the main lobby of Duane G. Meyer Library on the Springfield campus of Missouri State University, began on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. The renovation work should be completed well before the official completion deadline of December 22, 2019. All of the chairs will be replaced, along with most of the table surfaces. In June Craig Amason began working for the MSU Libraries as a non-student, part-time employee. Late last year he and his wife Amy relocated to Springfield from Georgia. Amy is coordinating the capital campaign for Drury University.  Craig has been working on a comprehensive plan for an oral history program at the MSU Libraries. He also is helping with event planning, including the regional premier of a Gatsby opera next March. Stay tuned for further details on that exciting event. …
