Haseltine Library celebrated student reading by hosting a socially distanced party for Greenwood Laboratory School fourth and fifth grade students on May 4th. Librarian Dea Borneman provided cupcakes and ice cream to students that read four or more of the books nominated for the Mark Twain Award. Students across the state voted to select this year’s winning title,  Blended by Sharon M. Draper. 

Soon the Missouri State University Libraries will be using Archive-It, described as the “leading web archiving service for collecting and accessing cultural heritage on the web. Built at the Internet Archive.”  MSU plans to use Archive-It to periodically capture several of the university’s websites (including the Standard student-run newspaper, Athletics, and the Foundation), the Libraries’ YouTube channel, to which 6,180 people currently subscribe, and our social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Flickr).   Shannon Mawhiney, Digital Archivist at the…

Meyer Library on the main Springfield campus of Missouri State University. For several years the Missouri State University Libraries has offered an internal grant competition to its current full-time employees to fund innovative ideas, projects, content, and services. Recently Lindsey Taggart submitted an innovation grant to subscribe to Unsub. The Dean and Associate Dean reviewed the application and funded it in the amount of $2,500. Unsub is a data dashboard that helps academic libraries divest from Big Deal journal subscriptions. Unsub allows users to create forecasting scenarios based on subscriptions and…
