PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
 
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival will feature the Ozarks region this summer on the National Mall, and our program team needs interns!
 
Ideal candidates will be interested in anthropology, education, history, folklore, journalism, regional and cultural studies, religion, or theater with experience/interest in and around the Ozarks region.
 
When: A six to eight-week period between June 5 and July 28
 
Where: In person in Washington, DC, with options for remote work between June 5 and 16, and July 12-28. Travel and lodging are not included.
 
Who: College and graduate students enrolled in a degree program at a college or university.
 
Hours: 40 hours per week

There are two types of paid internship opportunities:
 
1. Our Advanced-Level Folklife Festival Internships feature a focus on Women in Foodways and Plant Knowledge, U.S. Pacific Islander Expressive Culture, and U.S. Latinx Expressive Culture. Language skills in Marshallese and Spanish are a plus.
 
*These internship stipends received support from the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative Pool; federal support from the Asian Pacific American Initiatives Pool, administered by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center; and federal support from the Latino Initiatives Pool, administered by the National Museum of the American Latino.
 
2. Other paid interns for the Ozarks program and other Smithsonian Folklife Festival departments will be pulled from the general Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage applicant pool as well as applicants to the Advanced-Level Folklife Festival Internships. These interns will receive a flat stipend of $2000 for a commitment of 4 weeks or more.
