New Masking Policy Affects Meyer Library

New Masking Policy Affects Meyer Library

On Monday, October 11th a new masking policy will go into effect for most of the main Springfield campus of Missouri State University.

Here’s a summary of how the new campus masking policy will affect users of Duane G. Meyer Library. These policies apply to all visitors to the building, regardless of status with the university. The current plan is to have this new masking policy in force through December 2021, subject to change, of course, if situational changes warrant.

In general, masking no longer is required within most rooms and spaces within Duane G. Meyer Library, with the following exceptions:

  • Masks always must be worn by occupants of Library 101 off the main lobby, the only official classroom in the building, as well as in the Testing Center on the Lower Level.

  • Any time a class session is being conducted in any interior room or space, including Rooms 206 and 120 and other areas in the library building, everyone in the room during the time the class is in session (including gathering and dismissing) must wear a mask.

  • To meet the needs of users of the Duane G. Meyer Library building who strongly prefer to work only in rooms and spaces in which all current occupants are masked, we have designated that Room 107, the “big bear” room in the north-middle area of the main level, as an additional “masks required” room at all times. We ask that users of that room keep the doors closed, except when entering and leaving, to reduce the amount of air flow from other areas of the building.

Greenwood and the CDC Daycare will each develop and implement their own masking policies, as approved by the Provost in consultation with the President. Haseltine Library is located within the Greenwood Laboratory School and thus subject to the current masking policies established for that building.
