Ozark Jubilee Panel at the MO Cherry Blossom Festival
A stellar panel discussion about the Ozark Jubilee will be held in Marshfield on Friday morning next week as part of the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival.
Friday, April 23rd, beginning at 10:30 a.m. CDT at the Assemblies of God Church, 1538 W Washington St, Marshfield, MO 65706. It’s conveniently located near I-44 (and it’s on old Route 66!). This event is free and open to all.
The 3 panelists will be:
1. John Bisney, the son of Bryan Bisney, who served as producer and director of the Ozark Jubilee for its entire run of nearly 6 years as a weekly national ABC-TV broadcast. The Digitization Lab of the MSU Libraries recently digitized and made available online to the public the Bryan T. E. Bisney collection of material related to his career, especially regarding the Jubilee years.
2. Pat Cox Loveland, one of the square dancers of the Promenaders, who appeared frequently on the Ozark Jubilee, and who originated at SMS.
3. Wayne Glenn, the Old Record Collector, and one of the foremost authorities on Ozarks music, including the Ozark Jubilee, of course.
Dean of Library Services Tom Peters, in his role as executive director of the Ozarks Studies Institute, an ongoing program of the MSU Libraries, will serve as moderator of this panel discussion.
