Oversized Books Consolidated in the Plush Skylight Area

Oversized books in Skylight Study AreaThe collection of oversized books in the main circulating collection in Duane G. Meyer Library have been consolidated into one double-sided range in the newly refurbished Skylight Study Area on the Second Level. Several years ago this area was named in honor of James F. and Mary Asher Tearney, based on their generous supporting gift to the MSU Libraries. James passed away several years ago.

Many of these oversized volumes contain splendid photos, drawings, maps, and other images and useful information. Before the consolidation, the oversized books, formerly called folio books until the new FOLIO automated system was implemented earlier this summer, were located along different walkways on the Lower Level and the Second Level. It was difficult and inconvenient to actually take an oversized volume off the shelves to open it up and consult it. Now they’re easy to use and enjoy.
