Sabrina Lynn Motley, Director of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, has provided the following on-site attendance figures and social media impressions for the Ozarks Program held on the National Mall in DC over a ten day period in late June and early July as part of the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival, which began back in 1967:

  • On-site Attendance: 626,851
  • Total Impressions Across Social Media Platforms: 2,230,264
  • Top Facebook Posts were Ozarks-related (particularly Brooks Blevins and Ozark Mountain Daredevils posts, although others did well, too).

The team of co-curators, participants, and presenters from Missouri State University took photos, interviewed many attendees, and video-recorded many of the performances and cooking and crafts demonstrations. These primary source materials are being processed for archiving and public access, for current and future users.

The Ozarks Studies Program, an ongoing initiative of the Missouri State University Libraries, thanks everyone at MSU, across the Ozarks, and beyond, including many sponsors and friends, who contributed to the resounding success of this once-in-a-lifetime program.
