A Celebration of Student Research and Conservation Skills

A Celebration of Student Research and Conservation Skills

A new exhibit, Research, Conservation, Reconstruction, and Restoration will open in Special Collections and Archives on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Please join us for an opening reception from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Meyer Library Room 306.

This educational exhibit is the culmination of the best student research from the 2021 Citizenship and Service-Learning (CASL) integrated course ART/MST 488: Basic Conservation of Art and Artifacts.

Before and After: an early 20th century Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) frame before and after conservation.

The exhibit also includes selected projects from previous CASL integrated courses taught by Dr. Billie Follensbee, including ART 386/486: Art of Africa, ART 385/487: Art of the Americas, and ART 485: Art of Mesoamerica. The students researched the objects as part of their course projects. Objects studied are on loan from historical and educational institutions in the area and from private collectors.
