KY3 Piece Features the Ozark Jubilee Digitization Project

Red Foley on the Ozark JubileeA recent news report on longtime local TV station KY3 focused on the Ozark Jubilee Digitization Project, a massive multi-year project organized and managed by the MSU Libraries in conjunction with the UCLA Film and Television Archive and many donors and supporters, including the catalyst for the project, Wayne Glenn, the Old Record Collector. KY3 reporter Chad Plein worked on and reported this piece which runs approx. four and a half minutes, with lots of original footage from the Jubilee. It is only fitting that KY3 feature this story, because it was on KY3 that the Ozark Jubilee was first broadcast on Saturday evening, December 26, 1953.

Jaynie Chowning, one of the daughters of Si and Rosie Siman, was interviewed. Si was the executive producer of the Ozark Jubilee. Steve Grant from KY3, who was a young boy during the waning years of the Jubilee, also was interviewed for the story, along with Tom Peters, Dean of Library Services at MSU.
