MSU Libraries Partners with HathiTrust

HathiTrust logoThanks to a new agreement between the Missouri State University Libraries and HathiTrust, MSU faculty, students, and staff now have access to a unique collection of scholarly resources from more than 250 academic institutions from around the world.

“We look forward to supporting the university’s research and scholarship efforts through our new partnership with HathiTrust,” said Mohammad AlHamad, MSU Libraries e-resource strategist. “MSU now has digital access to an extensive collection of books from leading universities around the globe.”

HathiTrust is an international community of academic and research libraries who preserve and provide digital access to their institutions special collections. The massive digital library brings together materials digitized by Google, the Internet Archive, libraries at HathiTrust partner institutions, and other commercial digitization schemes.

Explore Membership Benefits

Missouri State’s new membership includes searchable access to over 17 million volumes — including 8.3 million books, 1.2 million government documents, and 450,000 serial publications – with full text access to the 39 percent of these materials (over 6.7 million volumes) that are in the public domain.

The membership also includes full text access to the following publications not fully viewable in Google Books:

  • Books scanned by HathiTrust member libraries and the Internet Archive, but not by Google (there are thousands of these, with more added continuously)
  • U.S. books published between 1923 and 1963 for which copyright was not renewed (240,000+ and growing)
  • U.K. books published 1874-1942 and Canadian & Australian books published 1894-1962 for which copyright was not renewed (160,000+ and growing)
