New Exhibit Opens Today

Art objectToday (Thursday, October 3, 2019) from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. there will be a reception in Special Collections on the Third Level of Duane G. Meyer Library to celebrate and showcase the opening of a new exhibit, Art of the Native Cultures of the Americas. The event is free and open to all.

This educational exhibit is the culmination of the best student research from the 2018-2019 Citizenship and Service-Learning (CASL) integrated courses ART 385: Art of the Americas and ART 485: Art of Mesoamerica, taught by Dr. Billie Follensbee, MSU Professor of Art and Design, and Coordinator of the Museum Studies Program.

The students researched the objects as part of their course projects. Art and artifacts are on loan from historical and educational institutions in the area and from private collectors.

Special Collections supports Dr. Follensbee and her students by providing study space and conservation facilities, as well as by developing the current exhibit showcasing the students’ work.

If you cannot attend the opening reception, please stop by to see the exhibit as some other time.  It will be on display until January 17, 2020.
