The Kightlinger Collection (M 106) in Meyer Library’s Special Collections and Archives is a collection of letters, greeting cards, and photos that document the lives of Kenneth and Myra (McDaniel) Kightlinger during World War II.  The couple moved to California in November 1942, but they came back to Missouri in February 1943 when Kenneth was drafted into the Army. The David A. Clouser Diaries (M 11) in Meyer Library’s Special Collections and Archives document the day to day lives of David A. and May Clouser of Lamar, Missouri, from the early 1900s to the mid-1940s. David was born in the late 1850s to early 1860s, and May was born in 1874. In anticipation of a complete refurbishment of the main lobby of Duane G. Meyer Library on the campus of Missouri State University late in December and early January, last week the job to add electrical outlets along the south, windowed wall of the lobby was well-nigh completed. The outlets are active and ready to use now. This will improve the usability and usefulness of the lobby when the new furnishings arrive next month.

On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, a team of four librarians from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, led by University Librarian and current MOBIUS President of the Board of Directors, Sharon McCaslin, visited the MSU Libraries to learn more about our initiative, currently called Interdisciplinary Space (IS), which involves virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, data visualization, 3D printing, and other technologies in service of interdisciplinary research and instruction, active learning, workplace readiness, curricular enhancements, entrepreneurship, and regional economic innovation. C-SPAN crews were in Springfield this week, filming various segments about the history and riches of this region. We’re a stop in the C-SPAN Cities Tour, which this year has profiled 24 mid-sized cities across America. Their visit began with a reception at the Gillioz Theater on Monday evening.
