Sue McCrory is retiring from MSU in the summer of 2025.

“I started here as a student worker in 1998 and then as a full-time person in 2000,” she said.

Initially, she worked for the now-defunct Center for Scientific Research and Education, which was a center under CNAS. She did that for two years with progressively more challenging tasks and eventually transitioned into the role of administrative coordinator for the center before being hired as the Health Education Coordinator for the Southwest Area Health Education Center. After a year in that role, McCrory became the Computers for Learning Coordinator as well as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in finance and general business.

It was the former provost, Frank Einhellig, who told her that they were opening a testing center in the library and suggested that she would be a good fit for a new position. In the summer of 2015, McCrory became the testing center coordinator. The testing center officially opened one month after she moved into the library.

After a career doing various things in different departments on campus, McCrory encourages younger employees and student workers to make connections and keep an open mind about what their profession could look like.

“There’s no such thing as a straight road,” she said. “I’m happy with my career because I feel like, especially with these last 10 years, that I created something myself and guided this into something that I don’t think was anticipated.”

A retirement party will be held for McCrory. It will take place on June 27, 2025 from 3 pm to 5 pm in the testing center.
