Meyer Library to host author talk next Monday

Author-duo Tom Koob and Curtis Copeland, who together penned the Ozarks Studies Institute’s latest publication, On The River: A History of the Ozarks Float Trip, will be presenting their book and doing a signing on Monday, October 21 at 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Ozarks Room on the 3rd floor of the Duane G. Meyer Library on MSU’s Springfield campus.

On The River examines the guides, camps, outfitters and gear that spawned and grew the distinctive sport of floating the wild rivers and creeks of the Ozarks region. Complete with personal interviews, classic photographs and historic newspaper and magazine articles, readers will explore the allure, mystique, and wonderment of a sport that combined the ambitions of urban outlander sportsmen with the skills and camaraderie of rural mountain folk.

Tom Koob has published multiple books on history in the Ozarks and has garnered a considerable following. Copeland, who is currently the G.I.S. Manager for the City of Branson, has also authored or contributed to many books, including several publications with the Ozarks Studies Institute.
