Joshua Lambert to Present at MLA Conference
The 2022 Missouri Library Association Conference will be held in Springfield on September 28-30, 2022. This is a great opportunity for local librarians to learn and network. As part of the conference this year, Joshua Lambert, associate professor and Missouri State University Libraries faculty, will give a lightning round presentation about converting Greene County election information into usable data.
The Greene County Clerk’s office has almost two decades of election data available on their website. They are working to migrate their older data page to a new one. Unfortunately, the information is in data formats that are difficult to analyze.
Joshua created Python scripts to convert all of the elections from November 8, 2005, to November 3, 2020 into more usable CSV files. He will discuss the process required to do so, the limitations of the data, possible collaborations, and further work he intends to do.
