Brooks Travis Participates in NISO Global Virtual Event
In late February Brooks Travis, the Information Technology Coordinator for the Missouri State University Libraries, was a member of a panel discussion held as part of the NISO Plus 2021 global virtual event. The panel, comprised of Erik Radio (Metadata Librarian at the U. of Colorado at Boulder Libraries), Bohyun Kim (Chief Technology Officer at the U. of Rhode Island Libraries), Leslie Johnson (Director of Digital Preservation at the National Archives), Russell Palmer (Assistant Director for GALILEO Support Services at the University System of Georgia), and Brooks, explored the topic of open versus proprietary software and systems.
One key topic explored by the panel was how to open up the ILS/LSP (Integrated Library System/Library Services Platform) to move toward a fully customizable infrastructure. Brooks explained how the FOLIO LSP is helping MSU move toward this goal.
NISO, the National Information Standards Organization, is a not-for-profit membership organization that identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information.
Congratulations, Brooks.
