Work Continues on Ozarks Room
Early in June additional furnishings arrived, were assembled, and deployed for the new Ozarks Room on the Third Level of Duane G. Meyer Library on the Springfield campus of Missouri State University. Plans are underway to fully open the Ozarks Room this fall, beginning with a grand opening reception. The date, time, and other details about that opening event will be shared later.
The Ozarks Room will become another physical manifestation of the good work of the Ozarks Studies Institute (OSI), which has been at MSU for decades. In recent years, the MSU Libraries has been serving as the organizational home for the OSI. The OSI publishes OzarksWatch Magazine. The Spring/Summer issue of OzarksWatch, which focuses on Chroniclers of the Ozarks, past and present, will be available soon. The OSI also has a book series. The third book in that series, Living Waters: The Springs of Missouri, is being printed right now and will be available soon.
Soon the Ozarks Room will have paintings, drawings, and photographs that highlight the region. Most but not all of the books about the Ozarks from the main circulating collection will be relocated later this summer to the new Ozarks Room.
