Living Ozarks Anthology Has a Successful Launch Event
On Monday evening, April 9, 2018, approximately 125 people gathered in the Theater of the Plaster Student Union on the Springfield campus of Missouri State University to enjoy an evening of recitations and musical entertainment celebrating the publication of Living Ozarks: The Ecology and Culture of a Natural Place. This 300+ page anthology, with copious illustrations, is published by the Ozarks Studies Institute, an initiative of the MSU Libraries. Rachel Besara, Associate Dean of Libraries and one of three co-editors of the volume, served as the master of ceremonies for the evening. Bill Edgar, another co-editor, gave one of the recitations. Jim Baumlin, the other co-editor, organized and produced the entire evening, which was enjoyed by all. Many of the contributing authors and editors gathered before the event to sign some of the copies. Sales of the book were brisk before and after the event. The book is for sale at the Bookstore inside the Plaster Student Union for $39.95.
