Access Services External Reviewer Molly Gunderson Visits MSU
Molly Gunderson, Access Services Manager at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, visited Springfield and Missouri State University in late March to conduct a two-day external review of the Access Services Unit of the MSU Libraries. Access Services, which includes Circulation Services, Interlibrary Loan, and Building Services, is one of twenty programs of the MSU Libraries that are on a schedule for periodic two-year reviews. During the first year, program leaders and faculty and staff members conduct a self-study. During the second year, the self-study is complemented by a report for an independent external reviewer to create a five-year action plan for the program moving forward. During the 2018 academic year, Library Information Technologies and MSU Testing Services also are in the second year of their program reviews. Their external reviewers will be visiting campus soon.
While on campus Ms. Gunderson had a very active schedule, with many meetings with various groups and individuals, including the faculty and staff of Access Services, the unit heads, the library management team, and Provost Einhellig. Her report with recommendations will be submitted before the end of the spring semester.
