Book-Em, Danno
The online scheduling service for reserving small-group study rooms in Duane G. Meyer Library has proven to be a huge success. On Sunday, December 3, 2017 we set a record in bookings of the group study rooms. Because of some limitations of the original software, the booking system can only book up to midnight of any given day (a limitation Mark Arnold is trying to overcome), so as far as the booking system is concerned, the service hours on Sunday were from noon to midnight. We have 25 rooms available for use in ½ hour slots. Last Sunday 95% of all available slots were booked. Of the 24 half-hour blocks, 12 were 100% booked. Twenty-one of the 24 half hour blocks were 85% booked or more (which means no more than 3 of the 25 available rooms were not booked). The three that were not 85% or greater were the first two blocks of the day (60 and 80% respectively), and the last block of the day (84%). The highest utilization prior to the December 3 record was 91% on October 8, 2017. The MSU Libraries plans to add more small-group study room in calendar year 2018.
