The Missouri Hub of the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), to which the MSU Libraries contributes its Digital Collections records, recently voted to admit member institutions from outside of Missouri and has changed its name to Heartland Hub (with updated website coming soon).  The first new members are academic libraries from Iowa, including Drake University, the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University, and Grinnell College. Martin Kirchner was a projectionist with the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield, Missouri, from its opening in 1926 until his death in 1963. A recent donation to the MSU Libraries, the Murnai (Pins) Neumann Collection, takes us back to the days of nightclubs and live entertainment in the 1930s and 40s. 

The Ozarks Studies Institute, an ongoing initiative of the Missouri State University Libraries, will host a free and open-to-the-public discussion with Ernie Bedell as part of its author talk series. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 in the Ozarks Room on the Third Level of the Duane G. Meyer Library on the MSU Springfield Campus. The Missouri State University Libraries marketing and communications team members Laura French and Ethan Danner will share the Libraries’ Instagram Reels strategy with a national audience at the 2022 Access Services Conference. The hybrid event will be held at 1:30 p.m. EST on Nov. 17 in Atlanta, Georgia.
