Last week, Elaina Kersey, managing editor of the Ozarks Studies Institute at the Missouri State Libraries, attended the 2023 Library Publishing Coalition Forum. Tonight at 7 p.m. in the Library Center auditorium, local golf pro Rick Grayson will be having an author talk. His book, Horton Smith: A Masters Legacy, was published in December 2022 by the Ozarks Studies Institute, an ongoing initiative of the Missouri State University Libraries. Ashley Morrill recently joined MSU Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives as a non-student, part-time employee. Ashley completed an internship with Anne Baker during the spring 2023 semester and graduated with a Master of Library and Information Sciences from the University of Denver. While Anne is on leave, Ashley will assist with processing archival collections, answering reference questions, and digitizing materials. Welcome to the Missouri State University Libraries, Ashley!

Two student workers at the Duane G. Meyer Library won the Karen Horny Student Employee Award. The Library Scholarship Committee awarded $1,000 each to Dayah German and Cassidy Hale.  Eligible students are those who have worked in the Library for at least 2 semesters and who have a letter of recommendation.  Dayah German works at the Meyer Access Services Information Desk, checking out books and technology to students, providing directions, and assisting the back-office staff when needed. Missouri State University has been selected to participate in AAC&U’s 2023-2024 Institute on Open Education Resources (OER). This Institute on OER provides a year-long, engagement opportunity for teams to actualize an ambitious strategy to broaden campus engagement with adoption of OER. The Institute will officially begin with a kickoff event on July 24th and 25th, 2023 and conclude with a capstone closing event on June 10th-11th, 2024.
