WolfCON 2024: Exciting Developments in Library Platforms
Rachel Besara, Associate Dean of Libraries at Missouri State University, recently returned from WolfCON 2024, the World Open Library Federation Conference, which was held in London at the Senate House on the campus of the University of London.
This event provided opportunities to dive into the latest in resource sharing platforms, OpenRS, and data reporting, Metadb. There were also important sessions about open science initiatives, showcasing how the STEM disciplines and libraries are working together to enhancing access to research and spur collaborations, which is reminiscent of initiatives at the Duane G. Meyer library such as the Digital Humanities projects and the Bearworks institutional repository.
A highlight for Rachel was her participation in a panel about FOLIO, the library services platform used at Missouri State. With a solid turnout, the discussion sparked valuable conversations among peers at various stages of adopting FOLIO, helping everyone share ideas and strategies for success. Networking was another big benefit of attending the conference in person, as Rachel connected with colleagues from around the world facing similar challenges and opportunties.
The next WolfCON will be held in Kansas City in 2025. This will make it easier for many of her other MSU colleagues to attend the conference and continue to advance our cutting-edge achievements in library systems.
