Good Read: Building Digital Culture
Published in January 2017 and written by Daniel Rowles and Thomas Brown, Building Digital Culture: A Practical Guide to Successful Digital Transformation, undertakes to help organizations create integrated, deeply ingrained digital cultures. While many organizations, such as the MSU Libraries, are striving to keep up with rapid technological change (e.g., 3D printing, virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics), Rowles and Brown argue that, unless an organization embraces a digital culture within, the results may be fractured, disappointing, and unsustainable.
One Amazon reviewer noted: “The book has four main parts: 1. Why you need a digital culture, 2. Plotting your digital journey, 3. The digital culture framework, and 4. Keeping up with change…. Know your organization’s existing culture and focus on cultural norms, i.e. unwritten expectations of conduct. Here is the transition to digital: what habits and behaviors have been changed by technology to the point where the rules are still unwritten? Now you are in digital culture territory.”
This book is on order for the MSU Libraries. The MOBIUS union catalog and Worldcat indicate no holding libraries in Missouri.
