Championing OER at the MO Library Association Cponference
Professor Tracy Stout, representing the Missouri State University Libraries and the Missouri A&OER (Affordable, Accessible Open Educational Resources) Planning Committee, attended the recent Missouri Library Association (MLA) Annual Conference in Columbia with not just one, but two impactful presentations on A&OER initiatives within the state of Missouri.
During the panel presentation titled Open Educational Resources (OER) Empowering Missouri Librarians for a More Affordable and Inclusive Learning Experience, Tracy along with other members of the Missouri A&OER Conference Planning Committee, delved into the heart of the Missouri A&OER Conference, now gearing up for its 5th year.
Attendees were treated to insights on creating a space for librarians, faculty, and administrators to collaboratively shape a more affordable and inclusive higher education landscape. The discussion with the Missouri A&OER Conference team explored advancing A&OER in Missouri, available resources, and avenues for active participation.
The panelists also had a poster presentation to allow a space for sharing success stories in the realm of affordable education. Attendees were encouraged to stop by for discussion on experiences with an affordable textbook program, authoring/adapting OER, or integrating OER into your classrooms. The key takeaways from these sessions centered around both local and statewide involvement with A&OER.
Attendees were made aware of and encouraged to participate in the upcoming Missouri A&OER Conference in March 2024. This free-to-attend (virtual) annual event focuses on uniting librarians, faculty, educators, administrators, and stakeholders to showcase innovations in OER, affordable course materials, and open pedagogy.
