Ozarks Jamboree on Friday, May 12th
A good old-fashioned Ozarks Jamboree, a type of variety show common to the Ozarks for over 100 years, from the Weaver Brothers & Elviry in the early 20th century to today’s Branson shows, is being organized by the MSU Libraries, in conjunction with the MSU Alumni Association and the Office of the President, for Friday evening, May 12th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. CDT in the new John Goodman Amphitheater on the main Springfield campus of Missouri State University.
The event will be free, but, due to limited seating, will require tickets. First priority seating will be given to Golden Bears (alumni who graduated at least 50 years ago), with second priority going to retired MSU faculty and staff members. If any tickets remain, they will be offered to the general public. The John Goodman Amphitheater seats approximately 350.
Scheduled to appear on this special Ozarks Jamboree:
- Jeff Houghton will serve as emcee
- David Scrivner and Friends. David is a very fine uptempo fiddler, taught by the legendary Bob Holt, who usually plays at the Monday night jam sessions held in the old general store in McClurg in northeast Taney County.
- Abbey Waterworth, a fine vocalist and instrumentalist who is a graduate of MSU.
- The HonkyTonk Renovators, featuring Emalee Flatness, another fine vocalist and instrumentalist who also recently graduated from MSU.
