RECAP: Rare Wine Rare Books

On July 18, 2025, the Duane G. Meyer Library hosted the 14th annual Rare Wine Rare Books from 6:30-9:30 p.m. 84 people attended and raised approximately $18,000 for the library. Employees from Marketing and Communications, Special Collections, and LIT were instrumental in putting on this event. Anne Baker, head of special collections, looks at manuscripts with attendees

2025’s theme was The Roaring ’20s.

“This year was the 100th anniversary of The Great Gatsby,” said Holly Kouns, coordinator of public services at Meyer. “Special Collections talked about how they would like to add a Fitzgerald [manuscript] to their collection and Anne is the one who suggested we do The Great Gatsby.”

Planning the event is a year-long endeavor that entails selecting a theme and a date, identifying sponsors, meeting with sponsors, faculty, and staff, and offering a wine tasting in the spring ahead of the summer event.
