Spring Scholarship Summit on Friday at Meyer Library
This Friday, April 11, MSU’s Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL) will host its inaugural Spring Scholarship Summit. It will be a drop-in event in Meyer Library room 107 between 3:30-5:00 pm. The Summit is open to the public, and it will feature posters on research and other scholarly projects by MSU faculty.
Two research poster sessions will be presented about projects pursued by Meyer Library employees. Andrea Miller, Professor/Metadata and Cataloging Librarian; Lynn Cline, Emeritus Professor; and Scott Fischer, Library Associate I will present a poster entitled Scholarly Information Discovery Processes of Missouri State University Faculty. Their study investigated the information discovery processes of faculty. Several initial findings were identified, which can be applied to library efforts to further engage with faculty.
Andrea Miller, Professor/Metadata and Cataloging Librarian; Raegan Wiechert, Assistant Professor/Cataloger; Haley Frizzle-Green, Archivist, The State Historical Society of Missouri; and Annie Simphaly, student, Missouri State University and University of Missouri—Kansas City authored another poster entitled Attention Humanities Scholars! Finds Await at the Johnson Library & Museum. This poster discusses their work on digitizing the 20,000+ catalog cards of the Johnson Library & Museum (JLM) in Osceola, MO to provide worldwide online access to the cards, which are now available online along with a finding aid. Attendees will learn more about this family library and its humanities content, the MSU/JLM partnership, and the Missouri Humanities Council (MHC), which awarded a grant of $2,500.00 to Missouri State University in support of the digitization project.
See you at the Summit!
