Fall Schedule of Conferences Shaping Up
Although it’s still summertime and the start of the fall semester is over a week away, several employees of the Missouri State University Libraries are making plans to attend professional meetings and conferences this fall. For instance:
- Nathan Neuschwander plans to attend — virtually– the 2023 WOLFcon Conference. Quoting from the conference website, “WOLFcon 2023 brings together members of the Open Library Foundation’s project member communities as well as users of their products. Participants will attend presentations, community sharing conversations, workshops, and conduct business meetings.” FOLIO will be a major topic of discussion.
- Tracy Patton plans to attend the Charleston Conference in November, which will have both in-person and virtual sessions. Quoting from the conference website, “The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment.”
- Tom Peters plans to participate in the 2023 Strategic Direction Summit for North American
University Library Deans being organized by EBSCO Information Services in late September in Scottsdale, Arizona. Quoting from the invitation, the summit “is designed to facilitate an
open dialog with key academic library leaders to discuss goals, concerns, current priorities, and future direction.” Peters also plans to meet with key donors of the MSU Libraries in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Undoubtedly other faculty and staff of the MSU Libraries are planning other professional travel and professional development activities this fall.
