Usage of Digital Content Remains Strong
The Missouri State University Libraries collects and provides access to many types of content, both print and electronic. For many subjects and areas of inquiry, the growth of digital content was strong before the COVID pandemic, accelerated during COVID, and continues to be very strong at present. Many students, faculty, staff, and members of the general public have shown a strong preference, as evidenced by usage patterns, for digital content that can be accessed anywhere, anytime.
Here are few instances of the strong demand for digital content:
- The oral history interview with Mark Pearman, which was uploaded to YouTube eight days ago, already has had 280 views.
- Part II of the Shannon County documentary film, uploaded to YouTube eight years ago, has had 1.6 million views.
- A Master’s thesis in Mathematics, “Groups Satisfying the Converse to Lagrange’s Theorem,” researched and written by Jonah Henry and uploaded to BearWorks, MSU’s Institutional Repository on December 12, 2019, has been downloaded 8,220 times.
- “This Gay Life: Interview with Alix Dobkin,” uploaded to YouTube two years ago, has had 3,600 views.
- The Ozark Jubilee YouTube channel, created and managed by the MSU Libraries has 2,410 subscribers. The March 26, 1955 episode, uploaded five years ago, has had 9,200 views to date.
In the coming months and years, major additions to the digital holdings of the Missouri State University Libraries will be made. Stay tuned!
