Rare Wine Rare Books Raises Record-Breaking Funds
The MSU Libraries’ signature event, Rare Wine Rare Books, grossed a record-breaking $20K this year. All proceeds support the Fraley Family Rare Books Endowment at Missouri State.
The event, held on Friday evening, July 22nd in the stacks of Duane G. Meyer Library, featured French cuisine, French wine, and new acquisitions to our rare book collection.
The success of Rare Wine Rare Books 2022 was made possible with generous support from our sponsors:
- Dinner Sponsors: Karen Horny, Dr. Walter & Martha Gaska
- McClurg Marching Band Sponsor: Derek Fraley
- Wine Selection Sponsor: Kathy Harris
- Wine Flight Sponsors: Scott Rice Springfield, Mark McQueary, Kathy Harris, Linda Robertson, Randy Doennig and Dr. Stephen Adams, and Jenni and Darin Hargis
- Program Sponsor: Lynn Cline
Many thanks to our featured guest speaker Dave Richards, dean of library services at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, for discussing our recent rare book acquisitions with guests. Richards is the former head of Special Collections and Archives at Missouri State and founder of this event more than a decade ago.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Darin Link, certified sommelier and wine and spirits manager at Hy-Vee, for selecting and discussing the featured wine at the event, as well as Chartwells for preparing six delectable French courses for guests.
Rare Wine Rare Books sold out again this year with 80 guests in attendance. The date for next year’s event is still being finalized, though it is typically held in mid-or-late July. If you would like to receive an alert when tickets go on sale for our 2023 event, please email Laura French, marketing and communications specialist, at LauraFrench@MissouriState.edu.
Thank you to all our sponsors and guests for making this year’s soirée a success.
