I Think, Therefore IAAM
An important new committee has been formed by the MSU Libraries: Intellectual Access and Assets Management Committee (IAAM). It’s charge involves addressing several crucial challenges/opportunities facing the MSU Libraries over the next few years and beyond:
- Develop a long-term strategy re:
- Intellectual Access
- Information Discovery, including the evolving roles of individual libraries and library consortia in the broad and complex information discovery field and marketplace
- Assets Management, including inventory control of physical information objects as well as digital assets
- User Needs, Behaviors, and Preferences regarding information, services, and spaces
- Develop a detailed recommended plan of action vis-a-vis MOBIUS membership for FY20 and beyond, should:
- MOBIUS cease operating, or severely curtail its operations
- MSU decide to change its relationship with MOBIUS, or leave the MOBIUS consortium altogether
The members of IAAM are: Rachel Besara, Joshua Lambert, Tom Peters (Chair), and Brooks Travis. When the new Director of Director of Resource Management and Discovery is hired, they will become a member of IAAM
