On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, a team of four librarians from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, led by University Librarian and current MOBIUS President of the Board of Directors, Sharon McCaslin, visited the MSU Libraries to learn more about our initiative, currently called Interdisciplinary Space (IS), which involves virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, data visualization, 3D printing, and other technologies in service of interdisciplinary research and instruction, active learning, workplace readiness, curricular enhancements, entrepreneurship, and regional economic innovation. Jan Johnson and Jir Shin Boey provided overviews of each technology and what MSU is trying to achieve with IS, as well as demonstrations. McCaslin later observed, “We had a very enjoyable day and it was worth every minute of our drive.”
