C-SPAN Visits Springfield
C-SPAN crews were in Springfield this week, filming various segments about the history and riches of this region. We’re a stop in the C-SPAN Cities Tour, which this year has profiled 24 mid-sized cities across America. Their visit began with a reception at the Gillioz Theater on Monday evening. On Tuesday Bill Piston, emeritus professor of History at MSU, was interviewed about the Civil War in the Ozarks, including the Battle of Wilson’s Creek, and Tom Peters, Dean of Library Services, was interviewed about John T. Woodruff and the birth of Route 66. Other local historians and officials were interviewed, too. The special initially will air on Saturday and Sunday, January 6 and 7, on C-SPAN 2 (also known as Book TV), as well as on Mediacom local cable channel 3. The various segments also will be archived.
