E-Resource Spotlight: Cost of Living Index
This electronic version of the Cost of Living Index (COLI) provides the most reliable source of city-to-city comparisons of key consumer costs available anywhere. The calculated data are recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau, US Bureau of Labor Statistics, CNN Money, and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors. Published by the Council for Community and Economic Research, COLI calculates comparable income between two urban areas, as well as provides an “overall index with six component indices (housing, utilities, transportation, health care, grocery items, and miscellaneous goods & services); expected spending by household types; average price for fifty-six goods and services; and, graphical comparison for easy analysis. A great comparison tool for those preparing to graduate and/or move to other locations.
