I Think, Therefore IAAM

I Think, Therefore IAAM

An important new committee has been formed by the MSU Libraries: Intellectual Access and Assets Management Committee (IAAM). It’s charge involves addressing several crucial challenges/opportunities facing the MSU Libraries over the next few years and beyond:

  1. Develop a long-term strategy re:
    1. Intellectual Access
    2. Information Discovery, including the evolving roles of individual libraries and library consortia in the broad and complex information discovery field and marketplace
    3. Assets Management, including inventory control of physical information objects as well as digital assets
    4. User Needs, Behaviors, and Preferences regarding information, services, and spaces
  2. Develop a detailed recommended plan of action vis-a-vis MOBIUS membership for FY20 and beyond, should:
    1. MOBIUS cease operating, or severely curtail its operations
    2. MSU decide to change its relationship with MOBIUS, or leave the MOBIUS consortium altogether

The members of IAAM are: Rachel Besara, Joshua Lambert, Tom Peters (Chair), and Brooks Travis. When the new Director of Director of Resource Management and Discovery is hired, they will become a member of IAAM
