Professor Tracy Stout of the MSU Libraries will join a SPARC Open Education Leadership Program cohort beginning this Fall semester. The cohort will attend the Open Education Conference in October and each participant will work toward completing a capstone project. SPARC is an intensive professional development program designed to empower library professionals with the knowledge, skills, and connections to lead successful open education initiatives that benefit students. Special Collections & Archives Receives Sigma Tau Gamma Scrapbook

  The Sigma Tau Gamma Scrapbook (M 114) was recently donated by members of the fraternity to Missouri State University’s Special Collections and Archives. Special Collections has digitized the scrapbook in its entirety and made it available online. Examples of items in the scrapbook include photos, newspaper clippings, and ephemera (such as invitations and matchbooks), all dating from 1939 to the 1950’s (plus one item from 1984). MSU Libraries Student Assistant Excels in Public Speaking Competition

On Monday, May 6, the MSU College of Arts & Letters held their annual Vicki Stanton Public Speaking Showcase (VSPSS); a one-day speech tournament highlighting persuasive speeches presented by COM 115 students. COM 115 is a required public speaking course at MSU, with a current enrollment of around 1,500 students. Each class chose a representative to deliver their 7-9 minute persuasive speech in the showcase.
